We help NHS suppliers build a carbon reduction plan that passes procurement in April 2027 and still holds up when the next tender asks for more.

From 1 April 2027, the NHS asks suppliers for more than a UK carbon footprint. Most in-scope tenders will require all relevant Scope 3 emissions, a global boundary and a net zero commitment for the whole organisation. We start with the contracts you bid for, check which requirement applies, and work back from there. Whether you sell medical devices, build hospitals, run facilities or provide IT, the Greener NHS rules are the same.
Under the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap, contracts of £5m a year or more, and all new frameworks, move to the 2027 NHS CRP. Smaller contracts keep the 2024 CRP, which matches PPN 006, the central government rule that replaced PPN 06/21. A PPN 06/21 carbon reduction plan may still pass the lower tier, but not the 2027 standard.

Get Scope 3 right
The 2027 requirement covers all relevant Scope 3 categories under the GHG Protocol. We screen all 15 categories, estimate with spend-based data where supplier data is thin, document the ones that don't apply, and set up a method you can update each year.
Stay ahead of the roadmap
The NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap keeps moving: product carbon footprints are next. We keep your plan current, prepare annual updates, complete your NHS Evergreen assessment with the same data, and flag what each new milestone means for your bids.

What changes in April 2027
Contracts of £5m a year or more, plus all new NHS frameworks and dynamic markets, move to the 2027 NHS CRP: net zero by 2050 or earlier across your whole organisation, a global boundary and all relevant Scope 3 categories. Smaller contracts keep the 2024 CRP, which matches PPN 006. Procurements started before 1 April 2027 keep the old rules.
What a compliant carbon reduction plan must include
A net zero commitment by 2050 or earlier. Baseline and current Scope 1, 2 and required Scope 3 emissions in CO2e. The environmental measures you'll apply on the contract, such as ISO 14001. Board or director sign-off. Publication on your website. A reporting period within 18 months of the tender notice, updated each year.
