EDGE Grant for Sustainability in Singapore: Strategy and Sustainability Standards (2026 Guide)

From 30 September 2026, Singapore companies can fund sustainability projects through Enterprise Singapore's EDGE Grant, which covers up to 70% of qualifying costs for SMEs (up to 50% for non-SMEs), within a total cap of S$100,000 per company per year. Two of the most valuable sustainability activities are Sustainability Strategy Development and the adoption of sustainability standards such as ISO 14001. EDGE also funds other sustainability activities, such as ESG ratings, and separate schemes such as the Sustainability Reporting Grant remain available.

EDGE replaces the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG), Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) and Market Readiness Assistance (MRA), which ceased on 29 September 2026. Instead of choosing a scheme, you now pick the activity you want to fund. This guide from Adelie, a sustainability consultancy with an office in Singapore, explains what each sustainability activity covers and how to apply.

EDGE Grant key facts

  • Support: up to 70% for SMEs and up to 50% for non-SMEs on the activities in this guide.

  • Cap: S$100,000 of total grant support a year across all EDGE activities, refreshed on 1 April. Sustainability, digitalisation and internationalisation projects share it.

  • Eligibility: registered and operating in Singapore, with at least 30% ownership (direct or indirect) by Singaporeans and/or Singapore PRs.

  • Timing: no work, payment or deposit before you apply. Costs incurred from the application date are covered once approved.

  • Payment: reimbursed after the project is completed and fully paid.

Adelie tip: because the cap is shared, map out your year's projects before applying so your sustainability work isn't crowded out. Book an intro call with Adelie to plan yours.

1. Sustainability Strategy Development

Best for: companies building their first sustainability strategy or reporting-disc

.

This EDGE activity funds a sustainability strategy and, optionally, your first sustainability report and its assurance (EnterpriseSG). Pick one option and complete everything in it:

  • Option A – Strategy: ESG materiality assessment, data collection system, gap assessment, risk and opportunity assessment, and a strategy or roadmap.

  • Option B – Strategy + report: everything in Option A, plus a sustainability report aligned to global standards such as GRI or IFRS.

  • Option C – Strategy + report + assurance: everything in Option B, plus assurance of the report.

  • Covers: professional services, software and hardware (excluding GST).

  • Timeline: application outcome in about 10 weeks; complete the project within 12 months of approval.

  • Eligibility: you must not have previously developed or published a sustainability report, and must not be subject to mandatory ISSB-based climate reporting under ACRA and SGX (all listed companies, and non-listed companies with revenue above S$1 billion and assets above S$500 million). Those companies can explore the Sustainability Reporting Grant instead.

  • Consultant: must hold SS 680 certification.

  • Prepare: vendor proposal, quotation and SS 680 certificate; 1-year projections of revenue growth, cost savings and new jobs (overall and Singaporeans only) with gross monthly salary above S$5,000; plus carbon emissions data if applicable.

How Adelie helps: strategy is Adelie's core work, including double materiality assessments and climate risk assessments. Adelie is SS 680 certified, so engaging Adelie meets EDGE's consultant requirement and can unlock up to 70% funding. Adelie can also help you choose between Options A, B and C.

2. Sustainability Standards

Best for: companies that want a recognised sustainability certification to win tenders or meet MNC supplier requirements.

EDGE's Standards business area has a sustainability category that supports adopting recognised standards (EnterpriseSG). ISO 14001, one of the most sought-after, shows how these activities work: it provides a framework to set environmental objectives, implement processes, monitor and measure progress, and continuously improve environmental performance (EnterpriseSG).

  • Covers: professional service (consultancy) costs and first-year certification from a body accredited by the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) or an internationally recognised accreditation body (ILAC, IAF or APAC MRA).

  • Not covered: surveillance audits and renewals after first-year certification, software, and GST.

  • Timeline: application outcome in about 10 weeks; complete the project within 12 months of approval.

  • Eligibility: you must not have previously applied for grant support for the same standard, in any version.

  • Deliverables: a report on the capabilities built and benefits realised, plus the accredited certificate.

  • Prepare: consultant proposal, quotation and SS 680 certificate; the certification body's quotation and accreditation; 1-year projections of revenue growth and new jobs (overall and Singaporeans only) with gross monthly salary above S$5,000.

How Adelie helps: Adelie supports companies through ISO 14001 implementation and certification, and can advise whether it or another standard best fits your customers, alongside B Corp and EcoVadis. As an SS 680-certified consultancy, Adelie meets EDGE's consultant requirement, so your project can qualify for funding. See how we work as ISO 14001 consultants in Singapore.

ISO 14064: measuring your carbon footprint. ISO 14064 is the international standard for quantifying, reporting and verifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It is increasingly requested by MNC customers and is the foundation for credible climate disclosures and net-zero targets.

How Adelie helps: Adelie calculates your GHG emissions and builds an ISO 14064-aligned inventory, ready for independent verification, so you have reliable carbon data for customers, reports and future EDGE applications.

EDGE sustainability activities compared

  • Best for: Strategy Development suits a first strategy or report; Sustainability Standards suits certified environmental management.

  • Support (SME / non-SME): up to 70% / 50% for both.

  • Costs covered: Strategy Development covers services, software and hardware; Sustainability Standards covers consultancy and first-year certification (e.g. ISO 14001, ISO 14064).

  • SS 680 consultant: required for both (Adelie is certified).

  • Application outcome: about 10 weeks for both.

  • Maximum project length: 12 months for both.

A common path is strategy first, then a standard such as ISO 14001 or ISO 14064. Adelie can help you sequence these within your S$100,000 annual cap.

How to apply for the EDGE Grant

  1. Check eligibility on BizSG and gather the documents for your activity.

  2. Get a proposal and quotation from a suitable vendor.

  3. Apply on the Business Grants Portal with your company's Corppass. Third parties, including consultants, cannot apply for or manage the grant on your behalf, but your consultant must be SS 680 certified for strategy and standards projects.

  4. Accept the Letter of Offer, then complete the project.

  5. Pay all costs, then claim with your deliverables and proof of payment. Payouts arrive within 14 working days of claim approval via PayNow Corporate, or up to eight weeks via GIRO.

After approval, only the project end date and claim due date can be changed, so scope carefully. Adelie can help you prepare a proposal that matches EDGE's deliverables from the start.
